Wholesale condom manufacturers

Condoms are classified as Medical Devices, meaning compliance is non-negotiable. You must ensure the supplier holds ISO 4074 (the international standard for natural rubber latex condoms). For specific markets, verify CE Marking (EU), FDA 510(k) clearance (USA), or SABS (South Africa). Additionally, the manufacturer should possess an ISO 13485 certification for medical device quality management systems.

Request recent Batch Test Reports covering three critical areas: Air Burst Volume and Pressure (to test strength), Water Leakage Testing (to ensure no pinholes), and Freedom from Holes (using electrical testing). For flavored or textured varieties, ensure the lubricants and additives are biocompatible and do not cause irritation, adhering to ISO 10993 standards.

B2B buyers should specify Nominal Width (typically 52mm or 54mm), Length (minimum 160mm), and Thickness (Standard: 0.06-0.08mm; Ultra-thin: <0.045mm). Material choice is also vital; while Natural Rubber Latex is most common, Polyurethane or Polyisoprene options are necessary for the latex-allergic segment. Ensure the lubrication level (measured in mg) meets your target audience's needs, usually ranging from 300mg to 600mg.

Condoms must be sealed in individual foil blisters that protect against light, oxygen, and moisture. The packaging must clearly display the Lot Number, Manufacture Date, and Expiry Date. A standard shelf life is 5 years, but this must be validated through Accelerated Stability Studies. For wholesale, ensure the outer cartons are robust enough to prevent crushing during sea freight.

The biggest risk is Customs Seizure due to lack of proper medical registration in the destination country. Always confirm if the supplier is registered with your local health authority. Another risk is Degradation during Transit; condoms are sensitive to heat. Avoid shipping during peak summer months without temperature-controlled containers if the route passes through extreme heat zones, as high temperatures can perish the latex.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on volume, but never compromise price for quality. Ask for OEM/Private Labeling costs upfront, as custom printing for foils and boxes usually requires a higher MOQ (typically 100,000+ units). Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) clause in your contract, allowing a third-party agency like SGS to perform random sampling based on AQL 0.25 or 1.0 standards before final payment.

Use Secured Payment Terms and prioritize suppliers with a high Audit Report status on Made-in-China.com. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) explicitly states the expiry date requirements (e.g., 'at least 4 years of shelf life remaining upon arrival'). This prevents the supplier from offloading 'old stock' that is nearing its expiration date.

Condoms are relatively lightweight but high-volume. Sea Freight is most economical for wholesale, but ensure the cargo is positioned away from the ship's engine room to avoid heat exposure. For documentation, ensure the HS Code (4014.10) is correctly declared and that the Certificate of Origin is provided to take advantage of potential preferential tariff agreements between China and your country.
