Twin screw cargo pump manufacturers

When sourcing twin screw cargo pumps, you must prioritize viscosity handling range and suction capability. Ensure the pump can handle a wide range of viscosities, typically from 0.5 to 5,000 cSt, to accommodate different cargo types like chemicals or heavy fuel oils. Look for self-priming capabilities and a high Net Positive Suction Head Required (NPSHr) margin to prevent cavitation. Additionally, verify that the timing gears are isolated from the pumped fluid to prevent wear and ensure synchronized rotation of the screws without metal-to-metal contact.

For B2B buyers in the energy sector, compliance with API 676 (Positive Displacement Pumps - Rotary) is the gold standard for reliability and safety. If the pump is intended for marine tankers, it must carry certifications from recognized classification societies such as ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), DNV, or LR (Lloyd's Register). Furthermore, ensure the equipment meets ATEX or IECEx standards for operation in explosive atmospheres, particularly for handling volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The choice of materials is critical for corrosion resistance and abrasion management. For corrosive chemical cargo, specify Duplex Stainless Steel or 316L Stainless Steel for the casing and screws. For standard oil applications, Nodular Cast Iron or Carbon Steel may suffice. Ensure the mechanical seals are of high quality (e.g., SiC/SiC or Tungsten Carbide) to prevent leakage, which is the most common cause of downtime in twin screw systems.

Twin screw pumps are ideal for stripping tanks and handling high-viscosity fluids where centrifugal pumps lose efficiency. They provide a constant flow rate regardless of pressure changes and are capable of running dry for short periods during tank stripping. They are widely used in barge loading/unloading, refinery transfer, and offshore platform applications due to their low-shear pumping action, which prevents emulsification of oil-water mixtures.

Always mandate a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by a reputable third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Specifically for twin screw pumps, request a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) report that includes a hydrostatic test and a performance curve verification. Utilizing platforms like Made-in-China.com allows you to select Audited Suppliers, providing an extra layer of verification regarding the manufacturer's production capacity and quality control systems.

Twin screw cargo pumps often require customization, leading to production times of 12 to 20 weeks. Negotiate a milestone-based payment structure (e.g., 30% deposit, 40% after successful FAT, 30% against Bill of Lading). Ensure the contract includes a Liquidated Damages (LD) clause for delays exceeding two weeks to protect your project timeline. For large-scale orders, consider using a Letter of Credit (L/C) to ensure transaction security for both parties.

Due to the precision alignment of the screws and timing gears, these pumps must be shipped in seaworthy vacuum-sealed wooden crates with anti-rust coating (VCI) applied to all internal surfaces. Ensure the supplier uses shock-absorbent mounting within the crate. For shipping to international ports, clarify the Incoterms; CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) is often preferred for heavy machinery to ensure the seller covers the risk until the goods reach your destination port.

Verify the correct HS Code (typically 8413.60) to determine applicable import duties and VAT in your country. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to take advantage of any Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). For the US and EU markets, ensure all electrical components (motors/controllers) are CE or UL marked to avoid customs seizures or mandatory retrofitting costs upon arrival.
