Safety razor blade manufacturers

The most critical factor is the base material, typically Martensitic Stainless Steel (e.g., 6Cr13 or 440C), which provides the necessary hardness and corrosion resistance. You must verify the Vickers Hardness (HV) rating; premium blades usually range between 700 to 850 HV after heat treatment to ensure edge retention without being too brittle.

Raw steel edges are prone to friction and oxidation. High-quality blades utilize multi-layer coatings: Platinum or Titanium for durability, Chromium for corrosion resistance, and a final layer of PTFE (Teflon) to reduce friction and ensure a smooth glide. Always request a coating thickness analysis to ensure consistency across batches.

Safety razor blades must comply with ISO 9001 for manufacturing consistency. For specific markets like the EU, ensure materials meet REACH regulations regarding chemical substances. If the blades are marketed for medical or professional barber use, additional CE marking or specific sanitary certifications may be required depending on the destination country's health department.

Request a Sharpness Index Test (BESS value); a lower score indicates a sharper blade. Longevity is measured by the edge degradation rate over multiple simulated shaves. A professional B2B buyer should ask for Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images of the blade edge to check for burrs or irregularities that could cause skin irritation.

The biggest risks are oxidation during maritime transit and inconsistent sharpening between batches. To mitigate this, ensure the supplier uses VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) paper for individual wrapping and moisture-proof desiccant in bulk packaging. Always use Made-in-China.com's inspection services to verify the sharpening angle (typically 15-22 degrees) before final payment.

For OEM orders, the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) usually starts at 100,000 to 500,000 blades due to the high-speed nature of stamping machines. Negotiate based on annual volume rather than a single PO to secure a 10-15% discount. Ensure the contract specifies that printing plate fees are a one-time cost and that the buyer retains ownership of the brand artwork.

Razor blades are classified as 'sharp tools' but are generally not restricted if packaged correctly. Use Double-Wall Corrugated Cartons and ensure the inner boxes are tightly packed to prevent movement. For shipping to the US or Europe, ensure the HS Code (typically 8212.20) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. For large volumes, Sea Freight (LCL/FCL) is the most economical, but ensure the containers are stored in a temperature-controlled environment to prevent rust.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to hold funds in escrow until the goods pass a pre-shipment inspection. Never wire full payments to private bank accounts; always use verified corporate accounts that match the supplier's business license to prevent fraud.
