Glass dome with base manufacturers

When selecting a glass dome, the material determines both clarity and safety. High borosilicate glass is the premium choice because it is heat-resistant, thinner, and has higher transparency compared to soda-lime glass. For high-end displays, ensure the glass is lead-free and hand-blown to avoid unsightly machine mold lines and bubbles, which can detract from the visual appeal of the enclosed item.

The base provides the structural foundation and aesthetic complement. Common materials include natural wood (pine, walnut, or oak), MDF, marble, or metal. For B2B buyers, it is crucial to verify if the wood has been kiln-dried and treated to prevent warping or mold during cross-border transit. Additionally, check if the base includes a groove (recessed track) to secure the glass dome and prevent it from sliding off.

For floral displays (preserved roses), the dome must have a tight seal to maintain humidity levels. For electronics or lighting displays, look for bases with integrated LED strips and pre-drilled cable holes. If the product is intended for food display (e.g., cake domes), the supplier must provide Food Grade Certification (such as FDA or LFGB) to ensure the materials are non-toxic and safe for direct contact.

Compliance is vital for smooth customs clearance. Ensure the supplier provides ISTA 3A or 6-Amazon.com packaging tests to prove the glass can survive international shipping. For the US market, ensure compliance with California Proposition 65 regarding lead content. If the base is made of solid wood, verify if a Fumigation Certificate is required by your country's customs to prevent pest introduction.

Glass is highly fragile; therefore, customized foam packaging (Polyethylene or EPE) that fits the dome's exact dimensions is mandatory. Avoid simple bubble wrap for bulk orders. You should negotiate a breakage allowance (usually 2-3%) with the supplier or request 5-ply corrugated outer cartons with 'Fragile' labels in multiple languages. For large volumes, palletizing the cargo significantly reduces manual handling damage.

Focus on MOQ flexibility and sample costs. Since glass production is often batch-based, ask for a lower MOQ if you choose standard sizes (e.g., 10x15cm or 12x20cm) already in production. Request that sample fees be credited toward the final bulk order. On platforms like Made-in-China.com, prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' who can provide factory inspection videos to verify their production capacity and quality control processes.

Always use Trade Assurance or secure payment terms that hold funds until shipping documents are uploaded. To ensure quality alignment, hire a third-party inspection service to perform a 'During Production' or 'Pre-Shipment' inspection. Key checkpoints should include glass thickness consistency, base finish quality, and LED functionality (if applicable). Never settle for 'stock photos'; always demand real-time production photos.

Because glass domes are lightweight but bulky, they have a high volumetric weight. For small trial orders, International Express (DHL/FedEx) is fast but expensive. For commercial stock, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. If shipping to the US or Europe, consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms to simplify the process, as the forwarder handles all customs duties and 'last-mile' delivery to your warehouse.
