Fabric pins manufacturers

For professional garment manufacturing, prioritize Nickel-plated Steel or Stainless Steel pins. Stainless steel is essential for long-term storage or humid environments to prevent rust spots on expensive fabrics. If working with delicate silks or satins, ensure the pins have a smooth, burr-free finish to avoid snagging threads.

The pin diameter (gauge) is the most critical factor. Use Extra-Fine pins (0.4mm - 0.5mm) for lightweight fabrics like chiffon to prevent visible holes. For heavy denim or upholstery, select thicker shafts (0.7mm - 0.8mm) to prevent bending. Additionally, check the point type; 'sharp' points are for wovens, while 'ball-point' pins are necessary for knits to slide between fibers without cutting them.

Choose Glass Head pins if the production process involves ironing, as they are heat-resistant and won't melt under a hot iron. Plastic or Pearlized heads are more visible and easier to handle but carry a melting risk. For high-volume industrial cutting, Flat Head (Flower or Butterfly) pins are preferred because they lay flat under rulers and patterns, ensuring cutting accuracy.

Ensure the product complies with REACH or RoHS standards, specifically regarding lead and nickel content in the plating, to meet international safety regulations. Request a Salt Spray Test report from the supplier to verify corrosion resistance, especially if the pins are intended for export to coastal regions.

The primary risk is batch inconsistency, where the sharpness varies between boxes. Always request a pre-shipment sample to test the 'pierce force.' Another risk is oxidation during sea freight; ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging (such as silica gel desiccant and vacuum-sealed inner bags) to prevent rust during transit.

Focus on the weight-to-count ratio. Since pins are small, suppliers often sell by weight; clarify the exact count per box to ensure you aren't overpaying for heavy packaging. Negotiate for customized OEM packaging (e.g., branded plastic cases) which can add retail value for a minimal increase in unit cost at high volumes.

Fabric pins are classified as 'sharp objects' in some jurisdictions. Ensure the Master Carton is double-walled (K=K) to prevent pins from piercing through the cardboard during handling, which could lead to worker injury or customs rejection. Verify the HS Code (typically 7319.40) to confirm the correct import duty rates for your specific country.

Utilize Secured Trading services on Made-in-China.com to hold payment until the goods pass inspection. For large orders, hire a third-party inspector to perform a 'random draw' test, specifically checking for bent shafts and blunt tips, which are common defects in low-cost mass production.
