Calcined magnesia manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the MgO (Magnesium Oxide) content, typically ranging from 75% to 94%. For industrial applications, the Activity (Citric Acid Value) is critical, as it determines the chemical reactivity rate. Additionally, monitor the levels of impurities such as SiO2 (Silica), CaO (Calcium Oxide), and Fe2O3 (Iron Oxide), as high impurity levels can negatively impact the final product's structural integrity in applications like magnesium oxychloride cement or animal feed supplements.

The application defines the grade: Agriculture/Animal Feed requires low heavy metal content and high bioavailability; Water Treatment focuses on particle size and neutralization capacity; and Construction (MGO Boards) requires a specific activity range (usually 50-120 seconds) to ensure proper setting times. Always request a Particle Size Distribution (PSD) report, as fineness (e.g., 200 mesh or 325 mesh) significantly affects solubility and reaction speed.

For European markets, REACH registration is mandatory. If the product is intended for the feed industry, the supplier must hold FAMI-QS or ISO 22000 certifications. For general industrial use, ensure the manufacturer is ISO 9001:2015 certified to guarantee batch-to-batch consistency. Always verify the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to ensure it aligns with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards for hazardous communication.

Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by third parties like SGS or Intertek. The inspection should include chemical titration to verify MgO purity and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for mineral analysis. It is also advisable to request a composite sample from the specific production lot to test the Loss on Ignition (LOI), which indicates the degree of calcination.

Calcined Magnesia is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air, which can lead to caking and loss of activity. Ensure the use of Jumbo Bags (FIBC) with inner PE liners or 25kg PP bags with moisture-proof coatings. For sea freight, specify 'Keep Dry' handling instructions and ensure the containers are inspected for leaks to prevent hydration during transit.

Pricing is heavily influenced by raw magnesite ore costs and environmental regulation-driven production halts in China (especially in Liaoning province). Negotiate based on Volume-Based Tiers; for example, orders exceeding 100 tons should command a significant discount. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to protect payments, and consider FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over shipping costs and schedules.

Never transfer full payments upfront to unverified accounts. Utilize Letter of Credit (L/C) for large contracts or Escrow services provided by reputable B2B platforms. Verify the supplier's Business License and Export Permit specifically for minerals. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site verification of their production capacity and legal standing.

Be aware of Export Duties or VAT Rebate changes in the exporting country, as these can suddenly shift the 'Free on Board' price. Additionally, check for Anti-Dumping Duties in your local jurisdiction (e.g., EU or US) that may apply to specific magnesium-based chemicals originating from China to avoid unexpected costs at the port of entry.
