Wholesale black cohosh extract manufacturers

When sourcing Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa), the most critical factor is the standardization of Triterpene Glycosides, typically measured as 2.5% or 8% via HPLC. You must also verify the extraction ratio (e.g., 4:1 or 10:1) and ensure the solvent used is food-grade ethanol or water, avoiding toxic residuals like methanol. The powder should be a fine, brownish-yellow consistency with a moisture content below 5% to ensure shelf stability.

For B2B buyers, the supplier must provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. Essential certifications include GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and ISO 22000. If exporting to the US, FDA facility registration is required; for the EU, compliance with PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) limits and EFSA regulations is mandatory. Additionally, check for Kosher or Halal certifications if targeting specific consumer demographics.

Request third-party lab reports (such as SGS or Eurofins) to test for heavy metals (Lead <3.0ppm, Arsenic <2.0ppm) and microbiological contaminants (Total Plate Count <1000cfu/g, E. coli/Salmonella negative). It is also vital to perform an ID test (HPTLC) to ensure the product is not adulterated with cheaper species like Cimicifuga foetida, which is a common fraud in the botanical industry.

Black Cohosh Extract is primarily used in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries for women's health supplements (menopause support). It should be stored in cool, dry areas away from direct light in double plastic bags inside fiber drums. The standard shelf life is 24 months when sealed correctly. For bulk buyers, ensure the packaging is tamper-evident and vacuum-sealed to prevent oxidation during sea freight.

The primary risk is species adulteration or dilution with maltodextrin. To mitigate this, use Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until quality is verified. Another risk is Customs seizure due to improper labeling; ensure all botanical names are listed in Latin (Actaea racemosa) and include the HS Code (typically 1302.19) clearly on all shipping documents.

Standard MOQs for extracts usually start at 10kg to 25kg (one drum). To get the best pricing, request a tiered quote (e.g., 25kg, 100kg, 500kg). Mention your long-term procurement plan to negotiate a 5-10% discount on repeat orders. Always clarify if the price is FOB (Free On Board) or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) to avoid hidden logistics surcharges at the destination port.

For samples and small batches (<50kg), Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is preferred for speed and easier customs clearance. For bulk wholesale, Sea Freight is most economical, but you must ensure the container is moisture-controlled. Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to confirm the goods match the approved sample before the balance payment is released.
