Furniture cam connector manufacturers

When sourcing cam connectors (also known as eccentric wheels), you must prioritize material composition and dimensional precision. High-quality connectors are typically made of Zinc Alloy (Zamak 3 or 5) for superior tensile strength. Ensure the diameter (usually 12mm or 15mm) and drilling depth match your panel thickness (e.g., 16mm or 18mm boards). A nickel-plated or zinc-plated finish is essential to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth rotation during assembly.

Focus on the locking torque and vibration resistance. A premium cam connector should provide a secure 'click' lock that prevents loosening over time due to furniture movement. Request Salt Spray Test reports (24-48 hours) to verify rust resistance and tensile strength tests to ensure the connector won't crack under the pressure of a power screwdriver. The internal cross-slot or hex-drive must be deep enough to prevent stripping during high-torque installation.

Suppliers should demonstrate compliance with ISO 9001 for quality management. For the European market, ensure the materials meet REACH and RoHS standards, confirming the absence of hazardous substances like lead or cadmium. If the furniture is intended for the US market, verify that the hardware does not interfere with TSCA Title VI compliance regarding the composite wood panels they will be installed in.

It is highly recommended to source the '3-in-1' set (Cam, Bolt, and Plastic/Expansion Nut) from a single manufacturer to ensure thread pitch synchronization and tight tolerances. Mixing components from different factories often leads to loose joints or structural failure. Verify if the bolts are machine-thread or self-tapping, depending on whether you are using plastic inserts or screwing directly into the wood.

The primary risks include material substitution (using cheap scrap zinc instead of virgin alloy) and dimensional deviation. Even a 0.5mm variance can render a batch of 100,000 units useless for automated furniture production lines. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify random samples against the approved golden sample.

Furniture hardware is a high-volume, low-margin commodity. Negotiate based on weight-based pricing for very large orders. Typical MOQs range from 5,000 to 50,000 pieces. You can often secure a 5-10% discount by committing to an annual volume but requesting staggered shipments. Always clarify if the quoted price includes packaging (bulk cartons vs. retail polybags), as specialized packaging can significantly increase the unit cost.

Due to the high density and weight of zinc alloy connectors, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical method. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty double-corrugated cartons and palletizes the load with plastic strapping to prevent box collapse during transit. For urgent samples or small trial orders, International Express (DHL/FedEx) is viable, but ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if required by the carrier.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Review their Production Capacity section to ensure they own their die-casting machines and plating lines rather than outsourcing, which gives you better control over quality and lead times. Check their export history to see if they have experience with the specific regulatory requirements of your target country.
