Food packaging glass jar manufacturers

When sourcing glass jars for food, ensure they are made from high-quality soda-lime glass or borosilicate glass (for heat resistance). The glass must be lead-free and cadmium-free to prevent chemical leaching. It is critical to verify that the supplier complies with FDA (US) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) regulations for food contact materials. Always request a Declaration of Compliance (DoC) to ensure the product is safe for long-term food storage.

The integrity of the seal is paramount for food preservation. You should check for BPA-free plastisol liners in metal lids or food-grade silicone gaskets in clip-top jars. For commercial canning, ensure the jars are compatible with vacuum sealing processes. Request information on the neck finish (e.g., Twist-off, Deep Lug, or Continuous Thread) to ensure you can source replacement lids or automated capping machinery that fits perfectly.

Prioritize jars with uniform wall thickness to prevent thermal shock and physical breakage. Check the thermal shock resistance rating (typically a temperature difference of 40°C to 60°C for standard glass). For high-speed filling lines, ensure the jars have a surface coating (hot-end or cold-end) to reduce friction and scratching, which maintains the structural integrity and aesthetic clarity of the glass.

Yes, professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer various customization options. This includes embossing or debossing logos directly onto the glass, silk-screen printing, frosting, or color spraying. When opting for color, ensure the pigments used are organic and food-safe if applied near the rim. Additionally, custom shapes can be developed through private molds, though this usually requires a higher Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ).

Glass is fragile, so packaging is the most critical factor. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons with individual cell dividers (egg-crate packing). For bulk orders, products should be palletized with plastic wrap and corner protectors. It is highly recommended to include a breakage allowance clause in your contract (typically 2-3%) and ensure the shipment is covered by Marine Insurance (All Risks).

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, ordering a full container load (FCL) significantly reduces the risk of damage compared to Less than Container Load (LCL) and lowers the per-unit shipping cost. Ask for pre-shipment inspections (PSI) by third parties like SGS or Intertek to verify quality before the final payment is released.

Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. Before placing a large order, verify the supplier's Audit Reports and check if they are a Diamond Member or Audited Supplier. This confirms their factory existence, production capacity, and export experience. Always start with a paid sample to test the glass clarity and lid fit before committing to mass production.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that some countries (like the US or EU) may impose on specific types of Chinese glassware. Check the HS Code (typically 7010.90) against your local customs tariff schedule. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to help you benefit from any applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and reduce import duties.
